The Controller will lead and oversee all accounting operations for a multi-office professional services firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for managing the general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, accounts payable, partner accounting, cash management, compliance activities, and audit coordination. The Controller will review financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit schedules to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and firm policies. This position also focuses on process improvement, system optimization, and maintaining data integrity across financial systems.

In addition to hands-on accounting leadership, the Controller will mentor and manage accounting staff, promote accountability and cross-functional collaboration, and help strengthen operational processes as the firm grows. The role also includes overseeing partner distributions, capital account reporting, fixed asset accounting, treasury activities, and coordination with external tax advisors.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with at least 8 years of progressive accounting experience and prior leadership experience managing accounting teams. CPA certification and prior law firm or professional services experience are preferred, along with proficiency in Excel and accounting systems such as Elite 3E or Aderant. The expected salary range is $160,000–$175,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
