The Managing Attorney in Washington, D.C., will work closely with the Director of Managing Attorneys’ Offices to develop best practices for electronic filing and docketing. Key responsibilities include reviewing court documents for accuracy and procedural compliance, providing legal research and procedural guidance on motions and court rules, and coordinating service of process with process servers. The role involves managing electronic and hard copy filings via systems like CM/ECF and state courts, retrieving and analyzing information from databases such as PACER, Bloomberg Law, CourtAlert, and Westlaw, and maintaining accurate docket and calendar entries to meet deadlines. Additionally, the attorney will monitor legal developments in D.C., oversee quality control of docketing, and ensure timely notifications to attorneys regarding court deadlines.

The position requires overseeing staff experience, excellent communication skills, and thorough knowledge of D.C. federal and state courts. Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree, be admitted to the D.C. Bar, and have at least five years of experience in a managing attorney’s environment within a large law firm.

The annual salary ranges from $265,000 to $325,000, depending on qualifications.
