The Litigation Docket Specialist supports the Managing Attorney’s Office by handling court filings, docket management, calendaring, and litigation support functions. Based in Washington, D.C., this role is responsible for processing, filing, serving, and retrieving court documents; maintaining docketing databases; reviewing incoming and outgoing court filings; monitoring court dockets for updates; and ensuring deadlines are accurately entered and tracked within the firm’s centralized docketing system. The position also provides litigation support by conducting research, retrieving case documents, coordinating service of process, and communicating filing requirements and deadline information to attorneys, paralegals, and staff. Additional responsibilities include electronic filing in state and federal trial and appellate courts, traveling to courts and administrative agencies when necessary, and assisting with special projects and administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid understanding of court docketing, calendaring procedures, court filings, and litigation processes. Candidates should have 2–3 years of litigation docketing experience, preferably in a large law firm environment. Experience with federal, state, and local court systems, including PACER, NexGen, and NYSCEF, is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with rules-based calendaring software such as CourtAlert, CompuLaw, or MA3000. Knowledge of Washington, D.C. state and federal court rules and procedures is preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $85,000–$100,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
