The Senior Litigation Docket Specialist supports the firm’s Managing Attorney’s Office by managing court filings, docketing, calendaring, and litigation support functions for attorneys and legal staff. Based in Washington, D.C., this role is responsible for filing, serving, and retrieving court documents; maintaining docketing databases; processing incoming court notices and filings; monitoring court dockets for updates; and ensuring all deadlines are accurately tracked and communicated. The position also involves performing electronic filings in state and federal trial and appellate courts, reviewing documents for compliance with court rules and procedures, conducting legal and court-related research, and coordinating service of process. Additional responsibilities include communicating with attorneys, court personnel, and staff regarding filing requirements, retrieving court records, and providing general administrative and litigation support as needed.
Successful candidates should possess strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. A solid understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures, court filing requirements, and litigation processes is required. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in a Managing Attorney’s Office, Clerk’s Office, or similar legal environment, preferably within a large law firm. Experience with electronic filing systems such as PACER, NexGen, and NYSCEF, as well as rules-based calendaring software such as CourtAlert, CompuLaw, or MA3000, is strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000–$125,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
